One arrested
for trekker’s
murder MANALI, July 16 — After a three-day search operation, one person allegedly involved in the killing of German trekker Jorg Weihrauch (26) at Balugera on the Manali-Chhatru-Hamta trek was arrested by a police party here today. Five more accused have been identified. According to the police, Ses Ram, a resident of Chijoga village, 2 km from here, had been arrested. The remaining five accused were identified as Suaru Ram, a resident of Parsha village, Thakur Dass, a resident of Shuru village, Rup Chand also of Shuru, Revat Ram of Prini village and Dule Ram of Aleo. The local police seized seven empty cartridges from the site where the incident took place. According to sources, four single-barrelled guns had been recovered. The guns belonged to relatives of the accused. The police said that Suaru Ram, the prime accused, had masterminded the crime. Ses Ram had confessed during interrogation that a sum of Rs 11,000 was distributed by the accused among themselves after the incident. |
