Bihar minister booked for beating 2 men

PATNA, July 9 (UNI) — An FIR has been filed at the Sachivalaya police station here against Bihar Minister of State for Cooperatives Lalit Kumar Yadav for allegedly beating his truck driver and cleaner.

Confirming the filing of a case against the minister and few others, Senior Police Superintendent Sunil Kumar said here today that the driver, Deena Nath Baitha, and the cleaner, were undergoing treatment at the Gardanibagh hospital here.

Mr Kumar said the police was trying to contact the minister, who was out of station at present.

The police, acting on a tip-off, raided the official residence of the minister last night and rescued the driver and the cleaner. They were subsequently hospitalised.

Mr Kumar said an FIR was lodged last night against the minister, three others named accused four unknown persons.

According to the FIR, the minister had kept the driver and the cleaner captive since June 10 and the minister’s men used to beat them at his behest.
