Tenure of J&K DGP extended

SRINAGAR, July 7 (PTI) — The Jammu and Kashmir government has extended by one year the tenure of Director-General of Police Gurbachan Jagat.

Sanction for extension of Mr Jagat’s tenure from February 17 to February 16, 2001 was accorded yesterday, an official release said today.

Mr Jagat, a 1966 batch IPS officer from Punjab, came to Kashmir in 1996 soon after the Farooq Abdullah government took office.
