BATHINDA, June 25 — It is a story perfect to be scripted for a masala Bollywood movie. A local youth killed another youth on the night of June 22 as the deceased was trying to win over his beloved.

After the youth was killed his body was burnt beyond recognition in a bid to show that he (the killer) had committed suicide as he had failed to get his beloved.

This was done by Dharminder Singh, a resident of Guru Nanakpura locality, who along with Nazar Singh murdered another youth, Gurdip Singh, of the same area with three motives in mind.

First, he wanted to finish off Gurdip Singh who was trying to win over his girlfriend.

Also, he wanted to humiliate the parents of the girlfriend who had beaten him up by showing that he had committed suicide for their daughter and thirdly he wanted to elope with his girlfriend after proving that he had committed suicide and thus save his parents from any legal hassles after his elopement.

Dr Jatinder Kumar Jain, SSP, said the police came to know that Dharminder Singh had committed suicide in his house located in the temple in Guru Nanakpura locality on June 22. He added that parents of Dharminder Singh were demanding action against the relatives of his girlfriend as they were claiming that they were behind the suicide of Dharminder. They even performed the last rites of Dharminder.

Dr Jain said police collected all the material that was lying there. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination and the room where the body was lying was locked. Dharminder had also written “I Love You” on the walls of the room to make the people believe that he had committed suicide when he failed to get his beloved.

Dr Jain said when the police started making scientific and intensive investigation into this case a water container collected from the scene of the crime was examined. On this water container a name was written. The police then started searching for its owner.

Within 36 hours of the crime, the police succeeded in unfolding the whole mystery behind this murder and arrested both Dharminder and Nazar Singh. On questioning the accused Dharminder confessed that he along with Nazar Singh had murdered Gurdip Singh.

Dr Jain said the police then took the blood samples and bones of the deceased into its possession. These things would be sent for DNA examination to prove that Gurdip Singh had been murdered by the accused.
