Telecom Dept to be bifurcated
Agitating staff call off stir
NEW DELHI, June 25 — Bowing to pressure from powerful employees associations, the Centre today decided to bifurcate the Department of Telecom Services (DTS) by creating a new Department of Telecom Operations and conceding to the associations’ demand to let a technical person head such services.

ROME, June 25 — Political as well as economic relations between India and Italy are expected to gain considerable momentum during Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s two-day visit to Rome. He arrived at Leonardo da Vanci Fuiumicino Airport this evening to a warm welcome.

Fiji rebels release four hostages
SUVA, June 25 — Gunmen holding Fiji’s deposed Prime Minister and 30 others as hostages released four female captives today but gave no commitment when they would free the remaining 27 hostages.

LONDON, June 25 — Director Sanjay Leela Bansali’s blockbuster "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" hogged the limelight winning 10 awards and showman Subash Ghai’s "Taal" bagged five at the first International Indian Film Awards a cinematic equivalent of the Oscars, at a glittering function here last night.

NEW DELHI, June 25 — The CBI will be soon summoning at least three former cricket captains in the ongoing match-fixing scandal even as the agency was planning to register another enquiry in the allotment of telecast rights, agency sources said here today.
