Haryana hikes bus fares CHANDIGARH, April 30 With effect from midnight today,bus travel in Haryana will become costlier. The state government has decided to increase the bus fare by 13 per cent to cover what it calls the hike in running cost of roadways buses. According to a notification issued by the state government here, the fare hike will cover all ordinary, semi-deluxe, deluxe and air-conditioned buses plying in the state. The revised fare will now be 40 paise per km for ordinary buses, 50 paise per km for semi-deluxe buses, 80 paise per km for deluxe buses and Rs 1.40 per km for air-conditioned buses. The minimum fare will now be Rs 2. The fare should be rounded to the nearest rupee. The State Transport
Department had proposed a hike in the fares immediately
after the Centre had raised the diesel prices after the
Lok Sabha elections, but the Chautala government had held
the hike. |
