SP booked in bribery case PATHANKOT, April 28 The police here has registered a case against Mr Mohinder Singh, Superintendent of Police, for demanding gratification from Mr Tarsem Lal, ASI, posted at CIA Staff here under Section 13 to the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Sections 165, 201, 467, 468, 471, 506 and 120-B of the IPC. In his complaint addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Police, the complainant stated that on November 2, 1999, at 8 p.m. Head Constable Kuldip Singh, the then Reader of SP, Pathankot, called him to the SPs office and said the SP was annoyed with him. He further said the SP had demanded Rs 50,000 from him. Otherwise he will be booked in some case. The ASI said he arranged for Rs 30,000 to be paid to the SP after pawning his wifes jewellery and handed over the amount in an envelope to the SP who asked him to arrange for the balance amount of Rs 20,000. In his FIR the complainant stated that he remained under constant mental pressure and was on the verge of committing suicide. The sources said the SP had been deputed by the high court to conduct an inquiry against Mr Tarsem Lal in a case of theft filed by one Vandana in the high court. Kuldip Singh told the

and the SP was likely to recommend action against him. |
