2 sisters fall prey to
dowry lust KARAIWALA (Muktsar), March 6 In a shocking incident, Baljeet Kaur (22) and Manjeet Kaur (20) two sisters, were allegedly killed by their mother-in-law Jagir Kaur and Jagdev Singh (husband of Baljeet Kaur) yesterday for bringing inadequate dowry. Police sources said the sisters were allegedly administered an insecticide by the accused forcibly as they could not satisfy the lust of dowry of their mother-in-law and Jagdev Singh. Baljeet Kaur and Manjeet Kaur were married to Jagdev Singh and Mohinder Singh, respectively, real brothers, about two years ago. The accused reportedly used to torture the deceased for bringing inadequate dowry. The sources added that a few days ago both Baljeet Kaur and Manjeet Kaur had come to their parents house at Sardulshahar in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan. The accused then approached the village panchayat to bring them back and about 15 days ago both sisters came back to their in-laws house here. Mr Ashok Baath, DSP, Gidderbaha, when contacted said that Jagir Kaur and Jagdev Singh killed Baljeet and Manjeet when they failed to fulfil the demand for a gold chain and a bracelet raised by the accused. The DSP, pointed out that after administering the insecticide to the deceased, the accused delayed their hospitalisation. Manjeet was pregnant and Baljeet had a two-year-old daughter. The DSP said the matter came to the notice of the police when Mr Bihari Lal, father of deceased, lodged a complaint in this regard. A police party reached the village and recovered the bodies from the possession of the accused. Both accused were arrested today following the registration of a case under Sections 304-B and 34 of the IPC. The bodies were handed
over to the parents after post-mortem. |
