Tribune News Service

ROPAR, Jan 22 — More than 5000 Junior Engineers (JEs) of various wings of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) will observe one-day strike on January 24 in support of the agitating employees of the Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Board (UPSEB) who have been fighting against the trifuraction of the UPSEB.

Disclosing this here today, Mr Rajinder Saini, a spokesman of the Council of Junior Engineers of the PSEB, said the Council President, Mr Sukhdev Singh, had appealed to all the JEs to start their strike from the midnight of January 23. The strike would end at the midnight of January 24, he added.

Mr Saini also said that a decision to this effect had been taken at an emergency meeting of the apex body of the Council at Patiala last night. He said the council leaders had warned the UPSEB and the Union Government that any type of loss due to strike would be the responsibility of the government.
