Two
strikers’ leaders held
LUCKNOW,
Jan 22 — Hardening its stand, the Uttar Pradesh
Government today arrested two leaders spearheading the
movement against the trifurcation of the state
electricity board and said the process of fresh
recruitments begins from tomorrow, and at the same time
held out the promise of out-of-turn promotions to
“loyal workers”.
Cogentrix
pulls out
BANGALORE,
Jan 22 — The United States multi-national Cogentrix,
the main promoter of the 1000 MW Mangalore power project,
has finally walked out of the controversial project,
while its joint venture partner, CLP Power International
has evinced interest in continuing with it by accepting
all the terms set by the Union Government.
