From Our Correspondent

AMBALA, Jan 15 — The local police registered a case against a former SDM, earlier posted at Ambala, and five others on the complaint of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib, last evening for allegedly preparing forged registration papers of vehicles.

According to the FIR, besides the former SDM, the others who have been booked include Harish Gulati, Jitender, Nand Lal, Golu and Darshan Singh.

On September 16 last a case was registered against Darshanjit Singh at Sarhind police station. During the investigation, the accused disclosed that some agents dealing with vehicle registration work and a motor vehicle clerk (MVC) Bhupinder had been preparing bogus registration papers. To verify the charge, ASI Sajid Ali of the CIA, Sarhind, sent one Harnek Singh with Rs 4,000 to obtain a bogus registration certificate from Bhupinder, posted at Ambala. He succeeded in obtaining a bogus registration certificate and on December 8, a case was registered against Bhupinder and Hajari Lal of Samana Mandi.

The duo had brought stolen jeeps from Delhi at cheaper rates and prepared forged documents for these at Ambala. The Sarhind police recovered 49 copies of forged registration certificates from the office of the SDM here.

Bhupinder disclosed that some agents of Ambala had also allegedly prepared forged documents of vehicles at the SDM’s offices at Guhla, Tohana and Hansi. A case was also registered in this regard at Sarhind police station.

The Ambala police registered a case against the former SDM and five others on the complaint of the SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib, in which he stated that since the incident occurred at a place which was out of the jurisdiction of the Fatehgarh Sahib police station. That was why a case against the accused had to be registered at Ambala.

Meanwhile, one of the accused, Harish Gulati has alleged that the Fatehgarh Sahib police had registered a false case against him.Back
