Laloo shifts stand
on Vananchal


PATNA, Sept 14 — In a complete turn-about, the RJD chief, Mr Laloo Prasad Yadav, today revived his opposition to the creation of a separate tribal state from out of Bihar even at the cost of alienating the supporting JMM-S and thundered that he was prepared to lay down his life to keep Bihar ‘one, strong and united’.

Incessant rain hits paddy, cottoncrops; snow in HP
higher areas

CHANDIGARH, Sept 14 — Paddy and cotton crops in Punjab have suffered a major setback due to incessant rain for the past 72 hours in the state.
Informed sources said most of the damage to the paddy and cotton crops had been caused by the heavy velocity winds that accompanied the rain.
