NEW DELHI, Sept 12 — The BJP today asserted that Bihar was a fit case for imposition of President’s rule but Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav threatened he would not rest till the Vajpayee government was toppled if the state government was touched.

Taliban pound Shia stronghold
ISLAMABAD, Sept 12 — Taliban fighter jets pounded the central Afghan province of Bamiyan today as minority Shia Muslims tried to repel advancing Taliban troops, even as Taliban spokesman Wakil Ahmed Mutawakkil said today that the Taliban militia will allow an Iranian plane to land in Mazar-i-Sharif to
retrieve the bodies of nine diplomats.

Three hurt in Pak firing
SRINAGAR, Sept 12 — Three persons, including a policeman, were injured, two of them seriously, in stepped up firing by Pakistani troops on Indian positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, an official note said here today.

CHANDIGARH, Sept 12 — The controversy involving Akal Takht and Sikh organisations continues to create bad blood and violence in Sikh community. While earlier reports of bloody fights and violence had come from Sikh religious places in the USA, Canada and the UK with regard to the controversy, the scene now seems to have shifted to Chandigarh.
