NEW DELHI, Aug 31 — Two former Union Ministers and 14 MLAs from Rajasthan, including two from the Bharatiya Janata Party, today joined the Congress, giving the party a boost ahead of the assembly elections due in the state later this year.Despite the defections, the BJP sought to underplay the event stating that those who crossed over would not benefit.

India, Namibia sign five pacts
WINDHOEK, Aug 31 — India and Namibia today signed five agreements aimed at boosting bilateral economic ties in the agriculture, technical cooperation and foreign office consultations as Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee announced a $5 million line of credit to facilitate imports of Indian capital goods to the African country.

JAIPUR, Aug 31 — At least 30 persons, including five women and four children, were feared killed and 21 injured in a collision between a train and a mini-bus at an unmanned level crossing in Udaipur district today.

Canal breach floods
200 houses


HISAR, Aug 31 — Nearly 200 houses in Narnaund town of Hansi sub-division of Hisar district were submerged in, following a breach in the Hisar major near Narnaund. The subdivisional Magistrate Hansi, Mr Vijaynder Kumar, said that the breach had already been plugged and the water, that had accumulated in the town was being drained out.
