NEW DELHI, Oct 6 - The
Union Home Ministry has taken note of developments in the
posting of Chandigarh SSP and sought for a report on its
implementation, highly-placed sources said here.
The Ministry had posted Mr
Dinkar Gupta, an officer of the Punjab cadre, as Senior
Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, in place of Mr C S
R Reddy but the UT Administration had stalled it.
Sources in the Ministry
said today that the Centre expected its order to be
implemented and in case it had not been done, find out
what had prevented the city administration from carrying
out the order.
"The Ministry
expected its order to be implemented, was a
terse observation by a senior officer, who refused to
elaborate further.
It is understood that high
officials of the Ministry were seized of the gravity of
the matter and were awaiting compliance report, the
sources said.
Meanwhile, it is learnt
the Chandigarh MP, Mr Satya Pal Jain, has also taken up
the matter with the Ministry expressing surprise at the
manner in which the Centres order was not acted
upon.
It is understood that the
Punjab Chief Minister had also taken up the matter with
the Ministry.
