11 die as LPG tanker blasts
GUWAHATI, Nov 2 (PTI) — At least 11 persons, mostly veterinary students, have been killed and over 100 others injured when a leaking LPG tanker exploded in a parking lot near here last night, the police said. However, eyewitnesses claimed that at least 30 persons may have died in the blast. The tanker exploded in a private parking lot with fire engulfing 13 other tankers and seven vehicles in Khanapara, about 15 km south-east of Guwahati.

Fodder scam
PATNA, Nov 2 (PTI) — Former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra today moved the Patna High Court against the trial court order denying him regular bail in a conspiracy angle case of the fodder scam. Controversial RJD MLA RK Rana, also filed his petition in the high court against designated CBI Judge SK Lal’s order rejecting his (Rana’s) plea for regular bail in the case.

PLA man killed
IMPHAL, Nov 2 (PTI) — One suspected activist of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was killed in an encounter between the Army at Khumbi Maring village in Manipur's Chandel district last evening, defence sources said today. The activist was killed in an encounter between 5/5 Gurkha Rifles and armed activists which lasted for 15 minutes. One SLR rifle and two hand grenades were recovered from the spot.

ETO shot
NEW DELHI, Nov 2 (PTI) — An excise and taxation officer in Faridabad, Laxman Das, was shot dead and his driver stabbed by some unidentified miscreants in front of their office, the Faridabad police said today. While Das died on the spot, his driver Chatti Narayan was shifted to a nearby private hospital after the attack on them last night. The police has arrested one person in this connection.

3 militants killed
GUWAHATI, Nov 2 (PTI) — Army troops today killed three ULFA militants in an encounter in Nagaon district of Assam. Official sources said the encounter erupted after troops of the Two Mountain Division closed on a militant hideout at Langteng colony of Senajurigaon. The 10-minute exchange of fire left Rajani Bora, Bhaiti Bahadur Chettri and Lekhi Kurmure dead.

17 die in mishap
JAIPUR, Nov 2 (UNI) — Seventeen persons were feared killed and several others injured when the tractor-trailer carrying them overturned and fell into the Parvati near Saipau in Dholpur district of Rajasthan today. Official sources said the mishap occurred when the tractor was taking several residents of Bhaisron village of Agra district (UP) to participate in a social ceremony at Aligarh village.
