India releases 149 Pak fishermen
NEW DELHI, Nov 2 — Signalling positive intent to the second leg of Indo-Pak composite dialogue begun last month in Islamabad and commencing here from November 5, India today announced the release of 149 Pakistani fishermen from Indian jails.

Links decision on poll to CBI probe
SHIMLA, Nov 2 — Uncertainty over the BJP-HVC alliance fielding a joint candidate for the Baijnath seat is likely to continue until November 6, with the Himachal Vikas Congress supremo, Mr Sukh Ram, linking his party's support to the BJP nominee with the demand for a CBI inquiry into charges against Mr Virbhadra Singh.

80 salt hoarders detained
NEW DELHI, Nov 2 — The salt scarcity scare which sent the residents of Delhi scurrying to buy salt in large quantity seems to be waning. The Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister said that about 80 persons had been detained in a crackdown on hoarders and black-marketeers of common iodised salt.		 Prices to be under control soon: FM

Plying Haryana buses on water?
ROHTAK, Nov 2 — Water has been found in the diesel tank of a petrol station owned by the Haryana Roadways here. Mr Jai Karan Balhara, vice-president, Roadways Karamchari Union, has alleged that diesel filled into a tanker at the Indian Oil depot at Rewari was replaced with water on arrival here and emptied into the tank of the petrol station.
