India, Russia sign defence pact
Primakov suggests strategic triangle
NEW DELHI, Dec 21 — Traditional Indo-Russian relations got a further boost today with the two sides signing seven agreements ranging from military cooperation to a wide array of economic areas. Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee witnessed the agreement signing.

Hike funds for naval projects: panel
NEW DELHI, Dec 21 — Parliament’s Standing Committee on Defence has urged the government to explore the possibilities of reducing establishment charges by adopting techniques, including ‘downsizing’ of the workforce, if necessary, to provide continued fund support to major naval projects.
