Thakre asks MPs to back insurance Bill
NEW DELHI, Dec 7 — In a complete reversal of the party’s long-held stand on the foreign entry in the vital domestic insurance sector, the Bharatiya Janata Party President, Mr Kushabhau Thakre, today asked the party MPs to fully back the Insurance Regulatory Authority Bill for ensuring its passage.

  
MPs urge Speaker to defy Supreme Court
NEW DELHI, Dec 7 — Several members in the Lok Sabha today urged the Speaker to ignore the courts and give a ruling on the restoration of telephone and cooking gas connections to MPs. A mention of the functioning of the MP Local Area Development Scheme by Mr Shailendra Kumar during zero hour turned into an impromptu debate on the role of the judiciary.

Chandigarh, Dec 7 — The railways managed to restore partial traffic on the damaged New Delhi- Ambala section by running three express trains at a controlled speed and some goods trains. However, the diversions of all other express trains caused delay to travellers for the fifth consecutive day today.

Pak-trained militants enter HP
Security forces put on alert
SHIMLA, Dec 7 — The security forces and the police have been put on an alert following reports that about 16 Pakistan-trained Kashmiri terrorists have infiltrated into Himachal Pradesh from Doda district adjoining Chamba. This was announced by the Chief Minister, Mr P.K. Dhumal, in the Vidhan Sabha today while replying to a calling attention motion tabled by Mr Kaul Singh and Mrs Asha Kumari of the Congress.
