27 die in US missile attacks
ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 — The US missile strikes on suspected terrorist bases in Afghanistan and Sudan have claimed 27 lives, left about 50 wounded and hundreds missing, even as the world community was divided today with Russia strongly denouncing the American action, which, however found support from Britain and Germany.
 
Smoke still rises on Friday, from the remains of the Elshifa Pharmaceutical Industries plant bombed by American armed forces on Thursday. The USA claimed the plant was used to make chemical weapons agents. Sudanese officials, including President Omar el-Bashir, have denied the allegation. AP/PTI

Thakre lambasts Cong, Left; admits failure on price front
JAIPUR, Aug 21 — Accusing the Opposition parties of political opportunism, the Bharatiya Janata Party president, Mr Kushabhau Thakre, today asked the party "to be constantly alert" against the "machinations of these disruptionist forces that have neither regard for constitutional niceties nor respect for the people’s mandate".
CBI raids Bihar CM's house
PATNA, Aug 21 — Personnel of the CBI today raided the official residence of Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi here in connection with a disproportionate asset case against her husband and Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav.
