New Delhi, January 19

Three days after WhatsApp said it had delayed the implementation of its controversial privacy policy, the Union Ministry of Information and Technology has asked it to withdraw the recent changes in the privacy policy, saying unilateral changes were unfair and unacceptable.

On January 16, WhatsApp had delayed the introduction of the new privacy policy after user backlash over sharing of user data with the parent company, Facebook Inc. Earlier, the policy was to come into force from February 8. — TNS
